What’s more shocking to a mom of four than having her beautiful teenage daughter announce that she’s transgender and intends to transition from female to male? Nothing. Nothing could have shocked me more than when Anna dropped that bomb. I needed help. Traditional therapy didn’t give me what I needed, but I found that writing, for me, was the best therapy. It’s raw, unapologetic, definitely not politically correct. This is MY story, not my child’s. My hope is that, in sharing my journey, other parents may have a chance to honestly explore their feelings so they can make their way through the complicated world of parenting, pronouns, and loving a transgender child.
